Barry Stein, MD, MBA

Dr. Stein is a nationally recognized leader in healthcare transformation, currently serving as the Chief Clinical Innovation Officer and Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Hartford HealthCare. A board-certified vascular and interventional radiologist, Dr. Stein combines deep clinical expertise with a strategic business lens, holding an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Tim Rowe, MBA

Founder & Executive Chairman of the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC)

CIC is a global leader in building and operating innovation campuses globally, focused on supporting the growth of startups and entrepreneurs. Since 1999, Tim has grown CIC from a single 2,700 SF location in Kendall Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts to a global company that manages more than 1.5 million SF of shared workspace, wet labs, and event space. CIC now hosts more than 3500 companies across multiple global cities, and companies in CIC and affiliated clusters have raised over 40B in risk capital. 


Among the notable organizations that spent their early days at CIC are Google Android and HubSpot. Rowe currently serves as the chair of Venture Café Global Institute, and was the founding chair of LabCentral, MassRobotics, and the first president of the Kendall Square Association. Rowe holds an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and a BA from Amherst College. He speaks fluent English, Spanish, Japanese, and basic Mandarin Chinese.

Shahid Azim

 CEO, Managing Partner, & Co-Founder of C10 Labs 

Shahid Azim is the CEO of C10 Labs, an AI Venture Studio originated from the MIT Media Lab. Shahid is a serial entrepreneur, known for leading health start-ups from breakthrough ideas in the labs to building products that can have a meaningful impact on people’s lives. He has most recently co-founded Nanogenecs, a company focused on bringing next generation molecular diagnostics directly to the consumers at home. 


He previously co-founded Quanttus in 2013, a next-generation consumer health company grounded in science, analytics, and advanced sensor technology, with the desire to transform personal health. The company raised over $30M in venture capital from leading investors in Silicon Valley. Prior to Quanttus, Shahid co-founded Lantos Technologies, a company revolutionizing the audiology industry. Lantos Technologies developed the world’s first intra-aural 3D scanning system that enables a custom-fit earpiece to dramatically improve the way people experience hearing aids and earphones. 


Shahid built Lantos from inception-phase to an FDA-cleared medical device that’s positioned to impact more than 9 million lives a year around the world. Shahid holds an MBA from Sloan School of Management at MIT, a postgraduate degree in Management from Harvard University, and a Bachelors in Finance from Seattle University. He is an active advisor to technology commercialization efforts at Harvard, Catalyst at Deshpande Center at MIT, and angel investor with MIT Angels Boston chapter.

Stefano Bini, MD

Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery, UCSF | Founder of DOCSF

Dr. Stefano Bini is a world-renowned expert in total joint replacement and a pioneer in the digital transformation of healthcare. At the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), he serves as the Vice Chair of Innovation and specializes in hip and knee reconstruction. Dr. Bini is the founder and Chair of the Digital Orthopaedics Conference (DOCSF), a premier global event that bridges the gap between technology and musculoskeletal clinical practice.


A frequent keynote speaker on the impact of AI, sensors, and robotics in surgery, he focuses on how digital health can improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Dr. Bini has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers and serves as an advisor to several health-tech startups. He earned his medical degree from Columbia University and completed his residency at UCSF, followed by a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery.

Wan Li Zhu, MBA

Venture Venture & Angel Investor

Wan Li Zhu is an experienced venture capitalist, a prolific angel investor in technology companies, and an active advisor to startups. Wan co-founded and runs MIT Alumni Angels, MIT’s official alumni-based startup investment network with presence in Boston, New York, San Francisco and DC. Under his leadership, the network has grown to over 1,200 accredited investor members (including 50+ VC firms) and completed over 100 investments in technology and life sciences, with an active community of over 250 startups.  Startups in the MIT Alumni Angels network have raised in aggregate over $1.5B of capital since 2015. 


Wan Li also founded and runs a new community of 130 high potential Harvard-affiliated technology and healthcare startups that have raised in aggregate over $1.7B of capital. Prior to venture capital, Wan Li worked at Microsoft, Google, Morgan Stanley, and Merrill Lynch in technology.  He is Executive Chairman of the New England Venture Network, an industry association of over 300 venture capital and growth equity investors in the greater Boston region. Wan Li has served as Chairman of MIT Enterprise Forum (MITEF) in Cambridge, which has launched thousands of companies, and is a founding committee member at MassVX, a new Massachusetts state sponsored program expediting venture creation across 34 top university and research institutions. 


Wan Li holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT. He completed research work at the MIT Media Lab and did his graduate thesis work at the MIT Lab for Financial Engineering on quantitative analysis of news and financial markets behavior.

Brian Hatcher, PhD

Brian Hatcher was appointed President, CMFT, Trauma and Foot & Ankle in November 2021. He was appointed to the Company’s Executive Leadership Team in November 2023 and took on responsibility for the Surgical, Sports, Upper Extremities and Restorative Therapies (SET) businesses in September 2024.


Dr. Hatcher joined the Company (then Biomet) in 2010 as the Director of Research and held roles of progressing responsibility within CMFT.  Prior to joining Biomet, he served in a variety of roles with Medtronic.

Mr. Hatcher holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, both from the University of Florida.

Ian Madom, MD


Dr. Ian Madom is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Ortho Rhode Island and the CEO and Co-Founder of Mocingbird, a platform for clinical credentialing.
