BOTSHack 2026

Ever wish you could just sit down with an engineer or a industry expert and actually fix a problem you see every day? Here’s your chance. We’re partnering with MIT Hacking Medicine for a high-energy sprint to turn 'what if' into a real-world solution. Let’s roll up our sleeves and build the future of MSK care together!

Join us as we tackle the defining challenges of modern orthopedicsβ€”from orthobiologics and AI to medical devices and practice management. Whether you’re designing bio-integrative implants or building AI-driven clinical tools, this is your chance to turn bold ideas into real-world solutions that eliminate burnout and accelerate patient healing. Collaborate with industry leaders, physician entrepreneurs, and business experts to push the boundaries of innovation, and build the future of orthopedicsβ€”one hack at a time.

  • The Challenge: You’ll have less than 24 hours to tackle real-world orthopedic problemsβ€”from regenerative medicine breakthroughs to AI documentation tools.
  • The Reward: Expand your professional network, gain hands-on experience, and develop prototypes for a chance to win prizes for the most innovative solutions.

Submission Deadline: April 15, 2026

Track 1: Orthobiologics & Regenerative Medicine

Track 1: Orthobiologics & Regenerative Medicine

Track 1: Orthobiologics & Regenerative Medicine

Focus: Harnessing biology to heal the body from within.

  • The Problem: Musculoskeletal tissues currently fail to regenerate after injury or degeneration.
  • The Hack: Design a novel delivery system (injectable, oral, etc.) to accelerate the healing of tendons, ligaments, or cartilage.
  • Alternative: Design the "Optimal Recovery Plan"β€”a data-backed nutritional strategy using supplements to maximize peak performance and surgical recovery.

Track 2: Next-Gen Medical Devices

Track 1: Orthobiologics & Regenerative Medicine

Track 1: Orthobiologics & Regenerative Medicine

Focus: Engineering durability and integration.

  • The Problem: Current joint replacements wear out or loosen from the bone over time.
  • The Hack (Surface): Design a new prosthetic or biologic shoulder joint using advanced materials that resist wear indefinitely.
  • The Hack (Interface): Create a prosthetic interface that biologically integrates with bone to eliminate implant loosening.
